Wood Shift Knob — Porsche Cayenne 957 & 958 (2008–2018)

A real wood shift knob that replaces the factory unit on the Cayenne 957 and 958. The Cayenne cabin ages well everywhere except the shifter — the standard knob picks up wear, gloss and finger polish faster than anything else you touch. This one swaps straight onto the factory shifter, keeps the original gear positions and mechanism, and gives the console the warmer, higher-grade look the rest of the interior already has. Choose the version that matches your chassis code at checkout: 957 for 2008–2010 cars, 958 for 2011–2018.

The Wood and the Finish

This is a wood knob, not a printed film or a hydro-dipped plastic one. The surface is sealed under a polished lacquer that carries the shine and protects the timber from hand oils, sunlight and the everyday contact a shifter takes — the same reason factory wood trim is lacquered rather than left bare.

Because the grain is natural, no two knobs come out identical. Figure, tone and the way the light moves across the surface all vary slightly from piece to piece and from the product photos. On a wood part that variation is the point: it is what separates a real timber component from a moulded imitation, and it is why the knob looks at home next to factory wood inserts rather than obviously aftermarket.

Tone deepens very slightly with age, the way any lacquered wood surface does. Keeping the car out of prolonged direct sun and away from solvent-based interior cleaners will keep the colour even for years.

Key Features

  • Real wood, not printed film. Every knob carries its own grain, so no two are identical — the finish reads as a genuine trim upgrade rather than a wrap
  • Model-specific fit. Separate versions for the 957 and the 958 rather than one generic knob forced onto both shifters
  • Nothing to modify. No cutting, no drilling, no wiring, no coding — the factory shifter and gear positions are untouched
  • Fixes the worst-wearing surface in the cabin. The shift knob takes more contact than any other interior part; replacing it lifts the whole console
  • Warm finish against the standard black plastic, and a natural pairing with wood or aluminium trim inserts already fitted to the car
  • Fully reversible — keep the original knob and put it back before you sell the car

Fitment

  • Porsche Cayenne 957 (2008–2010) — select the 957 version
  • Porsche Cayenne 958 (2011–2014) — select the 958 version
  • Porsche Cayenne 958.2 facelift (2015–2018) — select the 958 version

This knob does not fit the Cayenne 955 (2002–2007), which uses a different shifter. If you are unsure which chassis code your car is, the model year is the quickest guide: 2008–2010 is a 957, 2011 onwards is a 958.

Choosing your colour. This knob is made in several wood finishes, and the colour is confirmed with you after you order rather than at checkout. Place your order for the version that matches your chassis code, then contact our support team on any of our channels — email info@overlandtrek.com, or the live chat, WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram links on this site — and send your order number together with the finish you want. We will confirm it with you before your knob ships. If we do not hear from you, we will reach out ourselves rather than guess.

Installation

This is the simplest upgrade in our catalog — a driveway job, not a workshop one. The factory knob comes off and the wood knob goes on in its place. Nothing is cut, drilled, glued or wired, the shifter mechanism itself is never opened, and the original knob can go straight back on whenever you want it to.

  • Difficulty: Easy — no mechanical experience needed
  • Time: Around 15 minutes
  • Tools: A plastic trim removal tool is useful for lifting the shifter surround without marking it. No workshop equipment
  • Cutting, drilling, welding, wiring or coding: None
  • Note: The 957 and 958 shifters retain the knob differently, so the exact release step is not identical on the two cars — work gently and do not force the surround trim
  • Care afterwards: A soft dry cloth, or a slightly damp one for marks. Avoid solvent- or alcohol-based interior cleaners and dashboard shine products, which dull lacquered wood over time

If you would like a walkthrough for your specific car before you start, email info@overlandtrek.com with your model year and we will talk you through it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which version do I need, 957 or 958?

Go by model year. A 2008, 2009 or 2010 Cayenne is a 957. A 2011 through 2018 Cayenne is a 958, including the 958.2 facelift from 2015. Select the matching option at checkout — the two knobs are not interchangeable.

How do I choose the colour?

The colour is arranged after you order, not at checkout. Once your order is placed, contact our support team on any channel — email, live chat, WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram — with your order number and the finish you want, and we will confirm it before the knob ships. If you do not contact us first, we will contact you.

Is this real wood?

Yes. It is real wood under a polished lacquer, not a printed film or a hydro-dipped plastic knob. Because the grain is natural, each knob is slightly different from the photos and from every other knob — that variation is the character of a wood part, not a defect.

How hard is it to fit?

Easy — around fifteen minutes with no mechanical experience and no workshop tools. The shifter surround lifts, the factory knob releases, the wood knob goes on. Nothing is cut, drilled, glued or wired. The 957 and 958 shifters hold the knob slightly differently, so work gently rather than forcing anything, and email us if you want a walkthrough for your car first.

Does it affect the shifter or the gear display?

No. It replaces the knob only. The factory shifter mechanism, gear positions and dashboard gear display all work exactly as before. If your car has a shifter that has already been replaced or modified, email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com and we will check it before you order.

Will it fit a Cayenne 955?

No. The 955 (2002–2007) uses a different shifter and this knob will not fit it. We cover the 955 extensively elsewhere in the range — see all 955 parts.

Can I put the original knob back later?

Yes. Nothing is cut, drilled or wired, so the swap is fully reversible. Keep the factory knob in the box if you plan to return the car to standard before selling it.

How do I look after the finish?

A soft dry cloth, or a slightly damp one for marks. Skip solvent-based or alcohol interior cleaners and dashboard shine products — over time those dull a lacquered wood surface. Parking out of direct sun also helps the colour stay even.

How long does delivery take?

4–6 weeks worldwide, door to door, with tracking. Everything in our catalog is held in stock and ships from our own factory.

Will I be charged customs or import duties?

For the large majority of countries, no — duties, taxes and door delivery are handled in full. A small number of countries do not allow a foreign seller to act as importer of record; in those cases we contact you before shipping. Full detail is on our shipping and warranty page.
