Porsche Cayenne 955/957 & VW Touareg Gen 1/1.5 Nitrogen Coilovers (2002–2010)

Overland Edition high-performance nitrogen coilovers for the Porsche Cayenne 955 and 957 and the VW Touareg Gen 1 and Gen 1.5 Facelift. Large-bore bodies — 2.7" front and 2.5" rear — with finned nitrogen reservoirs and a 9-step compression adjuster let you set the ride anywhere from soft and quiet for daily driving to firm and controlled for light to moderate off-road use.

This is a complete set: two front coilovers with integrated nitrogen reservoirs and two rear coilovers with remote reservoirs. Vehicle-specific, bolt-in replacement for the factory struts, backed by a limited warranty.

Each vehicle has its own set — choose your car from the Select your vehicle dropdown above. Porsche Cayenne 955 (2002–2007), Porsche Cayenne 957 (2008–2010), VW Touareg Gen 1 (2002–2007) or VW Touareg Gen 1.5 Facelift (2008–2010). We ship the set built for the car you pick.

Finned Reservoir & 9-Step Adjuster

Blade-style cooling fins pull heat out of the nitrogen-charged oil — up to 3× faster heat dissipation — for more consistent damping on long corrugated roads and washboard trails. Nine clicks of compression adjustment take you from a soft highway ride to firm off-road control.

Premium Components in Every Unit

Aviation-grade 6082 forged aluminum top mounts, a 6082 threaded body with adjustable spring perch, combination oil seals, polyurethane bump stops, 54SiCr6 high-tensile coil springs and a 22 mm superfinished piston rod with hardness above HV1000. Working cylinders carry a trivalent zinc sealed coating, salt-spray tested to 500+ hours.

Integrated Front Shock & Reinforced Lower Mount

The front damper body and nitrogen reservoir are one integrated unit — there is no separate canister to mount, so installation is quicker and the damper works more efficiently. The front lower mount is formed as a single stamped piece with a reinforced anti-torsion structure and 4 mm longitudinal support legs.

Built for Every Terrain — and the Problems of Factory Shocks

From city streets and highways to gravel, potholes and rocky trails, these coilovers are designed to cure the typical weak points of worn factory struts: body roll, nose-dive and squat; leaks, noise and weak damping; rust and premature wear.

Ordinary Strut vs Overlandtrek Coilover

Ordinary struts rely on a rubber air bag and a lower fork that can crack and end up welded or plated. Our coilovers swap that for steel coil springs, adjustable nitrogen damping and a reinforced one-piece lower mount.

Installation

  • Difficulty: Advanced — professional installation recommended
  • Cutting / drilling / welding: None required — bolts to factory mounting points
  • Required afterwards: Full wheel alignment

Adjusting the Damping

Turn the adjuster knob on each reservoir clockwise to firm up the damping one step at a time, and anticlockwise to soften it. Steps 1–3 suit daily driving, 4–6 mixed roads and gravel, and 7–9 rough terrain and heavy loads.

Care & Maintenance

Nitrogen shocks work under high pressure, so the damping oil and seals need periodic replacement to keep them performing like new. Follow the service schedule below based on mileage and the terrain you drive. The shocks contain high-pressure nitrogen — never open them yourself; servicing must be done by a qualified professional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which option should I select?

Pick your car from the Select your vehicle dropdown: Porsche Cayenne 955 (2002–2007), Porsche Cayenne 957 (2008–2010), VW Touareg Gen 1 (2002–2007, pre-facelift 7L) or VW Touareg Gen 1.5 Facelift (2008–2010). It does not fit the Cayenne 958 or Touareg Gen 2. If you are unsure which your car is, email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com before you order.

What is included?

Two front coilovers with integrated nitrogen reservoirs and two rear coilovers with remote nitrogen reservoirs and hoses, built for the vehicle you select.

How do I adjust the damping?

Each reservoir has a 9-step compression adjuster. Turn it clockwise for firmer damping and anticlockwise for softer. Lower settings give a softer, quieter ride for daily driving; higher settings firm up the damping for off-road use or heavy loads.

How often do the coilovers need servicing?

On paved roads, do a visual self-check every 5,000–10,000 km (6 months) and a routine service — shock oil and seals — every 10,000–20,000 km (12 months). If you regularly drive in mountains, desert or other harsh terrain, service them every 5,000–10,000 km. Servicing must be done by a qualified professional.

My car has factory air suspension — will these fit?

The coilovers replace the factory struts. On cars with factory air suspension, the air system is no longer used after fitting, so the suspension control module needs to be coded or deactivated to avoid warning lights. Email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com and we will confirm what your car needs before you order.

Is a wheel alignment required?

Yes — book a full wheel alignment straight after fitting for correct tyre wear and handling.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free — every order of $2,000 or more ships free with tracked door-to-door delivery, and this coilover set qualifies on its own. Delivery takes about 2–3 weeks.

What warranty is included?

A limited warranty. What is covered, what is excluded, the warranty period and how to make a claim are set out on our Shipping, Warranty & Returns page. For a claim, email info@overlandtrek.com with your order number and photos of the issue.
