Heavy-Duty Aluminum Radiator — Porsche Cayenne 955/957 & VW Touareg Gen 1 (2002–2010)

A high-performance replacement for the factory radiator, built for cars that see sustained load — towing, sand, low-speed technical trails, track days and hot climates — where the standard cooling pack starts to fade. The core is 50 mm thick against the factory 25 mm, giving 2.07× the factory core volume and a far longer heat-exchange path for the coolant. The housing is CNC-machined rather than stamped, and the core carries a full graphene nano thermal coating. Direct bolt-on to the factory mounts, hoses and shroud points.

Upgraded vs Factory Radiator

Parameter Upgraded Factory Gain
Core size 710 × 560 × 50 mm 700 × 550 × 25 mm
Core volume 19,880,000 mm³ 9,625,000 mm³ +106.5%
Core thickness 50 mm 25 mm +100%
Frontal area 397,600 mm² 385,000 mm² +3.3%

Percentages are calculated from core geometry. Real-world cooling also depends on core structure, fin density, material conductivity and the graphene coating, so combined performance exceeds the volume increase alone.

Key Features

  • 50 mm core — double the factory 25 mm. Coolant spends far longer in the core, so more heat leaves it on every pass
  • 2.07× the factory core volume (+106.5%), with frontal area increased as well rather than traded away for depth
  • CNC-machined housing instead of a stamped one — better sealing and structural strength, and more resistance to pressure spikes and vibration fatigue
  • Graphene nano thermal coating across the full core surface. Graphene's thermal conductivity of roughly 5,000 W/m·K raises surface heat-radiation efficiency, adding cooling speed at the same core volume
  • Radiator-specific core — fin pitch and flow paths tuned to the flow behaviour of coolant, not a generic core
  • Direct bolt-on to factory mounts, hoses and fan shroud — fully reversible

Aluminum radiator core and CNC machined housing detail for Cayenne 955 957 and Touareg 2002-2010

Fitment

  • Porsche Cayenne 955 (2002–2007) — Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo
  • Porsche Cayenne 957 (2008–2010) — Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo
  • Volkswagen Touareg Gen 1 (7L, 2002–2007)
  • Volkswagen Touareg Gen 1.5 facelift (7L, 2008–2010)

This radiator does not fit the Cayenne 958 (2011–2017) or Touareg Gen 2 (7P, 2011–2017) — those share a different platform and a different cooling pack.

Installation & Maintenance

  • Difficulty: Intermediate — cooling system work
  • Tools: Basic socket set, drain pan, coolant refill kit
  • Cutting / drilling / welding: None required
  • Process: Drain the coolant, remove the front cooling pack fasteners, disconnect the hoses and fan shroud, swap the radiator, reconnect and refill
  • After fitting: Bleed the cooling system properly and check for air locks — this platform is sensitive to trapped air. Use the correct VW/Porsche G12/G13 specification coolant

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my car?

Yes, across the whole 2002–2010 range — Cayenne 955 and 957 in Cayenne, S and Turbo form, and the Touareg Gen 1 and Gen 1.5 facelift. It uses the factory radiator mounts, hose connections and fan shroud points on all of them. If your car has already been modified around the cooling pack, email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com and we will check it for you.

How much better is this than the factory radiator?

The core holds 2.07 times the volume of the factory unit — a 106.5% increase — and is twice as thick at 50 mm against 25 mm, with slightly more frontal area as well. Those figures are geometric. Actual cooling performance is also shaped by the core structure, fin density, material conductivity and the graphene coating, so the real-world margin is wider than the volume number alone suggests. We do not publish a temperature-drop figure, because it depends heavily on your climate, load and airflow.

What does the graphene coating actually do?

It covers the whole core surface. Graphene conducts heat at roughly 5,000 W/m·K, so the coating moves heat to the surface and radiates it away faster than bare metal. The effect is extra cooling speed for the same core volume — it works alongside the bigger core rather than instead of it.

Why does a CNC-machined housing matter?

The factory housing is stamped. A CNC-machined housing seals better and is structurally stronger, which matters on a pressurised system that also takes constant vibration and the occasional hard landing. It is the difference between a part that survives repeated pressure spikes and one that starts to weep at a seam.

Do I need to modify anything to fit it?

No. It uses the factory radiator mounts, hose connections and fan shroud points. No cutting, drilling or bracket fabrication, and the original radiator can be refitted later if you ever want to.

Does it fit a Cayenne 958 or Touareg Gen 2?

No. The 958 and the Touareg 7P are a different platform with a different cooling pack. This radiator covers the 2002–2010 cars only — Cayenne 955 and 957, Touareg Gen 1 and Gen 1.5.

Should I upgrade anything else at the same time?

If you are running hard enough to need a bigger radiator, the front of the car is taking hits too. Pair it with a front bumper and underbody armor if you spend real time on rough terrain.

Will I be charged customs or import duties?

For the large majority of countries, no — duties, taxes and door delivery are handled in full. A small number of countries do not allow a foreign seller to act as importer of record; in those cases we contact you before shipping. Full detail is on our shipping and warranty page.
