Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the two packages?
Set 1 covers the engine, transfer case, and rear differential in 5 mm aluminum. The larger package adds our Touareg off-road side steps — 50 mm manganese steel tube — plus side skid plates for both sides, giving full rocker panel protection as well as underbody coverage.
Are the side steps aluminum or steel?
The side steps are manganese steel with 50 mm tube, the same units we sell separately for the Touareg. The underbody skid plates are 5 mm aluminum.
Does this kit include fuel tank plates?
No — the aluminum kit covers the engine, transfer case, and rear differential. If you want fuel tank protection as well, our manganese steel kit includes plates for both fuel tanks.
Aluminum kit or manganese steel kit?
Aluminum is lighter and well suited to overlanding, fire roads, and moderate off-road use. Manganese steel work-hardens on impact and is the better choice for serious rock crawling.
Will this kit fit my Touareg?
Yes — fits the Volkswagen Touareg Gen 1 (2002–2010).
