VW Touareg Gen 2 Aluminum Roof Rack (2011–2018)
Premium all-aluminum roof rack built from 6063 aluminum alloy for the VW Touareg Gen 2 (7P). Rated to 200 kg static with meaningfully less roof weight than a steel rack, and fitted with 3060 T-slot crossbars that take standard M8 hardware, so you can mount a rooftop tent, awning, lights or recovery gear exactly where you want them. Bolts on to the factory roof rail points, with optional molle panels that mount over the rear side windows for extra gear storage. Got a panoramic sunroof? It keeps working normally with the rack fitted.

Crossbars & Materials: Built for Your Own Accessories
The crossbars are metric 3060 T-slot aluminum extrusion with a European-standard 8 mm slot running the full length of every bar. Slide standard M8 T-slot nuts and bolts into the slot and fix your rooftop accessories exactly where you want them — rooftop tents, awnings, light bars, fuel and water packs, recovery boards, cargo boxes and tie-down points. No extra drilling, no proprietary clamps.

Which option should I select?
Choose your configuration under Features: the roof rack on its own, the rack with one molle panel, or the rack with both molle panels. This rack fits the VW Touareg Gen 2 (7P), 2011–2018. If you are unsure which generation your car is, email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com before you order.
What are the molle panels?
Molle panels mount over the rear side windows and give you a grid to strap or clip recovery gear, straps, tools and pouches. You can have one side or both. Choose Roof Rack + Both Molle Panels for a matching pair, one over each rear side window.
I only want one molle panel — how do I choose the side?
Select Roof rack + Single Molle Panel, then tell us whether you want it on the driver side or the passenger side. Add it in the order note, or email info@overlandtrek.com with your order number.
Can I still use my panoramic sunroof with the rack installed?
Yes. The panoramic roof can be used normally with the rack fitted — no problem at all. You can open and close it just as you would without the rack.
What hardware do I need to mount my own accessories?
The crossbars are 3060 (30 × 60 mm) T-slot aluminum extrusion with a European-standard 8 mm slot (approx. 8.2 mm opening). Use standard European-style M8 T-slot nuts and bolts — widely available from any aluminum-profile or rooftop-accessory supplier. Slide the nuts into the slot, position your accessory, and tighten.
What is the rack made of?
The whole rack is 6063 aluminum alloy. The crossbars are 6063-T5 extrusion with a 1.6 mm wall, weighing approx. 1.29 kg per meter. 6063-T5 is the go-to alloy for structural T-slot profiles: rigid, corrosion resistant and dimensionally consistent, so T-nuts slide smoothly along the whole bar. The exposed screws on the rack are black.
What size is the rack?
The platform measures 200 × 120.5 × 16.5 cm (78.7 × 47.4 × 6.5 in), length × width × height. Height is the rack itself and does not include the factory roof rails it sits on.
What is the load capacity?
The rack is rated at 200 kg static load. Always check your vehicle's factory roof load rating in the owner's manual and do not exceed the lower of the two limits. Why aluminum instead of steel?
At 28 kg this rack is 5 kg lighter than our steel modular rack while carrying the same 200 kg static rating. Less weight up high means less stress on the roof and better handling, with excellent corrosion resistance.
Do I need factory roof rails installed?
Yes — the rack mounts to the factory roof rail points of the Touareg Gen 2. If your vehicle does not have factory rails fitted, email info@overlandtrek.com to discuss options.
Can I mount an awning, Rotopax, or jerry cans?
Yes — compatible with standard overland accessories including awnings, rooftop tents, Rotopax fuel packs, jerry can holders, light bars and hi-lift jack mounts, all fixed with M8 T-slot hardware in the crossbars.
