Manganese Steel Skid Plates Kit — VW Touareg (2002–2010)
Complete underbody protection in one bundle — five plates covering the engine, transfer case, both fuel tanks, and rear differential, all in 3 mm work-hardening manganese steel. Direct bolt-on to factory points, at a lower combined price than buying the plates individually.
Each generation has its own kit — choose your car from the Select your vehicle dropdown above. VW facelifted the Touareg for the 2008 model year and the underbody mounting points changed with it, so the plates are cut and drilled for the car you pick. Gen 1 covers 2002–2007; Gen 1.5 Facelift covers 2008–2010.

This kit does not fit the Touareg Gen 2 (7P, 2011–2018) — that is a different platform with a different underbody.

Which option should I select?
Gen 1 is the 2002–2007 pre-facelift 7L Touareg. Gen 1.5 Facelift is the 2008–2010 car. If you are unsure which yours is, email your VIN to info@overlandtrek.com and we will identify it for you before you order.
Is the same kit used for both generations?
No. The plates are cut and drilled for the generation you select, because the underbody mounting points changed with the 2008 facelift. A Gen 1 kit will not bolt to a Gen 1.5 car.
What is included in the kit?
Five manganese steel skid plates — engine, transfer case, two fuel tank plates, and rear differential — plus all mounting hardware and installation instructions.
Why two fuel tank plates?
The Touareg runs dual fuel tanks, so the kit includes a plate for each rather than leaving one exposed.
Manganese steel or aluminum — which kit should I choose?
Manganese steel work-hardens on impact and is the better choice for serious rock crawling and repeated heavy strikes. The aluminum kit is lighter and better suited to overlanding and moderate off-road use.
Do I need to drill or modify the vehicle?
No — every plate is direct bolt-on using factory underbody mounting points, with instructions included.
How long does the full kit take to install?
Most owners complete the full kit in a single afternoon with the vehicle on a lift or ramps.
