Which option should I select?
Match the option to your car's model year. Cayenne 955 for 2002–2007 cars, Cayenne 957 for the 2008–2010 facelift. What is manganese steel, and why is it better than mild steel?
Manganese steel is a work-hardening alloy — it gets harder each time it is struck. That makes it resist denting and deformation from rock strikes far better than standard mild steel.
Manganese steel or aluminum — which should I choose?
The 3 mm manganese steel plate suits serious rock crawling and repeated heavy impacts. The 5 mm aluminum version is lighter and better suited to overlanding, fire roads, and moderate off-road use.
Do I need to remove this for servicing?
Yes — the plate comes off for underside maintenance access, using basic hand tools.
